Summary
Provides occupational therapy services to patients, including assessment, treatment, program planning and implementation, and related documentation and communication, in order to increase the patients’ functional independence.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Professional competency as a general practitioner of OT as defined by certification and licensure; ability to select age appropriate functional goals and treatment techniques for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients; interpersonal skills that promote cooperative patient and peer behavior; accurate written and verbal English. FIM Credentialing must be obtained within initial 45 days of employment and maintained current throughout employment. A minimal proficiency score of 80% is required for credentialing. Employees are extended three opportunities to pass the credentialing test. All clinical staff serving both inpatient and outpatient areas must have Evacuation Training as well as training in Restraint, Seclusion and Safety Devices. CPR training will occur during hospital orientation and must be maintained during employment.Must be able to communicate orally, read, write, hear, and visually assess patient status. Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics when examining or delivering care. Must be able to transfer and transport patients of various body weight and composition. Must be able to stand, bend, stoop, lift, turn, twist, sit and walk frequently. Must be able to demonstrate proper use of equipment. Must be able to manipulate equipment.
