Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop, lead, coordinate, and participate in international health and safety- related risk management efforts and key projects associated with travel abroad. Develop, review, and initiate policies for international travel for the Washington University community, with emphasis on travel to medium and high risk international destinations. - Communicate WashU international travel policy university-wide as the primary point of contact with school/department leaders and administrators to help ensure consistent compliance outlined procedures and protocols, including international travel registration, approval procedures, consent forms, waivers and other documents and other international travel risk-related initiatives.
- Monitor the University’s international travel exposure, with particular attention paid to high-risk locations; develop risk mitigation plans for travel to high-risk locations in consultation with necessary parties.
- Work with ISOS contacts for day-to-day concerns and overall adjustments and/or improvements to the WashU MyTrips.
- Serve as one of the University’s primary “first responders/authorized persons” in the event of an international crisis or incident that may affect the health, safety and security of WashU travelers which may require communicating with and accounting for those impacted.
- Liaise with other institutional offices and administrators to determine which program services are applicable to a given situation.
- Develop productive relationships with external experts and resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Familiarity with issues related to international operations and security intelligence analysis.
- Ability to speak a foreign language a plus.
- Knowledge of other cultures valued.
- Experience travelling internationally.

- Ability to quickly assimilate new information, knowledgeable in articulating emerging threats and risks and recommend mitigation options and alternatives.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
- Proficient with establishing priorities that are aligned with risk and urgency.
- Ability to collaborate and coordinate with key stakeholders across the Department and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
- Highly motivated, positive “self-starter” able to operate with limited supervision in a small team environment.
- Ability to use good judgment and discretion under stress and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in the use of computers and software, including, but not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), Social media applications (Facebook, Twitter, TweetDeck,etc.), various web-based applications.
