Part-time K–3 Literacy Effectiveness Coach

Hybrid (Phoenix, AZ)

TNTP seeks a Part-time Literacy Effectiveness Coach to support school leaders and educators in advancing consistent and coherent early literacy practices and systems. This is a part-time position (up to 20 hours/week) based in Phoenix, Arizona, and requires local residency (Maricopa County), as in-person school support will be needed periodically.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Part-time K–3 Literacy Effectiveness Coach, you will partner with school leaders and K–3 educators to improve literacy outcomes for students by coaching for consistent and coherent literacy instruction and systems. Your work will focus on helping schools align literacy instruction to research-based practices and improve coherence across teaching, curriculum, and tiered systems of support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with school leaders and teachers to identify opportunities for greater instructional coherence in literacy.

  • Coach educators on using HQIM (high-quality instructional materials) to deliver grade-level, standards-aligned instruction in whole group and small group settings that is inclusive of multilingual learners.

  • Support implementation of the science of reading-aligned practices across classrooms.

  • Facilitate professional learning and planning sessions that build educator capacity in early literacy instruction.

  • Surface and communicate patterns of strengths and areas for growth in instruction to inform school improvement efforts.

  • Provide feedback and resources aligned to the school’s vision for literacy and student experience.

You’re a strong candidate if you:

  • Have at least five years of K–3 classroom experience, with a demonstrated track record of improving student outcomes.

  • Are trained in or familiar with the science of reading and evidence-based foundational literacy practices for multilingual learners.

  • Have experience using or supporting the implementation of high-quality instructional materials in literacy.

  • Know how to build strong, authentic relationships with educators and school leaders.

  • Are skilled at providing effective coaching, facilitation, and/or professional development.

  • Are highly organized and able to manage your time and responsibilities independently.

  • Are reflective, collaborative, and open to feedback.

  • Thrive in dynamic environments and are comfortable working across teams and schools.

  • You have an ability to connect and build relationships with diverse communities. Bilingual abilities are a plus. 

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience teaching K-3 literacy in Arizona classrooms

  • Prior experience coaching K-3 literacy teachers and leaders

  • Ability to facilitate discussions on problems of practice and improvement

  • Strong facilitation skills and experience engaging educators across remote and in-person settings

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus

TNTP offers a competitive hourly wage commensurate with experience in a similar position. The pay range for this position is $32.53 - $48.79 per hour.
