Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Using a familiarity with best horticultural practices, helps the horticulture team to produce plants for critical experiments while conforming to experimental guidelines set out in communication with researchers. This includes tasks such as watering, fertilizing, assisting in pest management, pruning, transplanting, and planting plants independently, including on regular weekend shifts. - Effectively communicates and learns from with teammates, Supervisor, growers, post-docs, grad students, and PIs regarding experimental design and for success in plant production for achieving experimental goals.
- Assists with general maintenance of the facility and equipment. This includes cleaning and basic maintenance protocols such as changing lightbulbs and washing dishes.
- Assist the team with pest management duties, such as scouting for pests, applying beneficial insects, cleaning equipment, and pruning plants as instructed by the Supervisor and Horticulturist.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
